Beetle Inspections

WHAT IS INSPECTED DURING A (WOODBORER) BEETLE INSPECTION

All accessible portions of the property only (e.g wooden flooring under wall to wall fitted carpeting will not be inspected). What we cannot see we cannot inspect.

DOES A BEETLE INSPECTION COMPLY WITH YOUR BEETLE CLAUSE IN YOUR DEED OF SALE?

Yes.  The clause might only cover Oxypleuris Nodieri and Hylotrupes Bajulus where they are mainly found in roof trusses, fascia boards and wendy houses (Note : Some Deeds of Sale exclude wendy houses, picket fencing etc from the Beetle Inspection)

IS IT ADVISABLE TO HAVE YOUR BEELTE CLAUSE AT HAND DURING THE BEETLE INSPECTION?

Yes – as the Beetle Inspector will know exactly what specific wood destroying beetles or/and wood destroying organisms to report on.

WHO MAY PERFORM A BEETLE INSPECTION?

A qualified inspector registered with the Department of Agriculture in Terms of Act 36 of 1947.

SHOULD A PROPERTY NOT COMPLY WITH THEIR DEED OF SALE – WHAT WILL THE PROCEDURE BE?

A quotation will be submitted for any remedial work and should the quotation be accepted in writing the remedial work will be effected and the Beetle Certificate issued. NOTE : Should the quotation not be accepted the inspection fee will still remain payable.
